Poole Bay is a gorgeous little painting showing the view from Shore Road in Sandbanks looking towards Brownsea Island in Poole harbour and the Purbeck hills in the distance, the yachts moored at Sandbanks can be seen to the left.
Painted in an impressionistic style I kept the scene diffused.
This day has been very hot and the beautiful sounds and smells of Poole harbour hang in the air, there is only an hour or two of daylight left, the water is glassy and there is just enough breeze for the sails to catch.
The colours are strong and although there is plenty of blue in this painting there is a warm feeling about it.
I used a small stretched cotton canvas and as always I put on at least three more coats of high quality gesso as I do with all my canvas's prior to painting.
Again I used the best quality handmade oil paints on Poole Bay
This beautiful little painting measures 5 1/8 x 7 3/16 inches or 130 x 183 mm.
